Hi gang, I'm not even halfway through the list of Classic Ladies I wanted to post about, and already I am revisiting a previously-posted babe.
I blogged about Claudia Cardinale about 3 years ago, but even then I felt I was short-changing her.
Recently I have seen 2 more of her early-1960s' movies and all I can say is ...WOW!
I saw "The Magnificent Cuckold" and "Sandra" (both on YouTube, in Italian with English subtitles, and in black and white).
Of course, even though they were foreign films, it was the early-60s, and mainstream movies, so there was no visible nudity. But she sure did push the envelope!
This photo is from "Sandra", a drama where she returns to her village, recently married, but with a dark secret from her past.
"The Magnificent Cuckold" is a comedy, where she is the wife of a well-known businessman who has clearly married out of his league. He knows it, and most of the townspeople know it, but it's not clear if Claudia thinks so as well. Hubby is constantly having daydreams of his wife being unfaithful, and these are acted out sexily by Claudia and other men.
In one scene, he imagines her slipping out to a hotel in another city for a rendezvous (which her husband has actually done earlier in the movie). She is roaming the halls of the hotel in only a loose-fitting, below-the-waist top (showing plenty of cleavage and side-boob) until she finds her lover's room. In the doorway, the man removes her top and throws it out into the hall. Although he is obstructing our view of the nude Ms. Cardinale, we can see a sliver of her hip, and she is wearing panties (which the director may or may not have intended for us to notice.)
In another scene, (again, in hubby's mind, not actuality) she is standing on a bed doing a sort of "Dance of the 7 Veils" in front of a room full of men. Her flimsy dress clearly reveals her side-butt, and it is evident that Ms. Cardinale is not wearing panties. The men each take turns pulling off a strip of her clothing, with the last one removing her bra, so that all she has left is a feather boa. (Then Hubby's daydream ends, dammit!)
Do yourself a favor and catch these old flicks on YouTube. I have seen several featuring Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida as well in the past year.
